NBA 2K20: Five Most Underrated Players – CrownHoops

maximios December 9, 2023 Sport

NBA 2K20 has been out for just over a month now, giving users plenty of time to become accustomed to the rosters. Every year, the staff at 2K does their best to give ratings to every player in the league. For the most part, they do a great job. Unfortunately, there are instances where they are way off, and these five players suffered from it. This list will not contain rookies or players who are yet to play in an NBA game. Here are the five most underrated players in NBA 2K20!

5. Gary Harris – 79 Overall

Much like his entire team, the starting shooting guard for the Denver Nuggets is highly underrated on NBA 2K20. Last season, Harris saw a bit of a decline in his stats from the prior season, but he was still a great asset all around. Averaging 12.9 points on 42.4 percent from the field, 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1 steal, Harris always found a way to contribute to his team in his 28.8 minutes per game. Those stats earned him an 82 overall in NBA 2K19, so we are stumped as to why he saw a three-point decline in his overall rating. To put into perspective of how underrated he really is, 2K also gave 79 overall ratings to players such as Jeremy Lamb, Fred VanVleet, P.J. Tucker, Joe Ingles, and Terrence Ross. Give me Harris over any of those players.

4. Caris LeVert – 78 Overall

In NBA 2K19, LeVert started the year off with a 76 overall. His play proved the staff at 2K wrong, as he was updated to an 80 overall by the end of the season. Starting off 2K20 with a rating of 78 seems almost unfair to LeVert, as he will have to again prove to 2K that he is underrated once again. Last season, LeVert out up the best number of his three-year career, averaging 13.7 points on 42.9 percent shooting, 3.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.

LeVert is ready to make the jump to an NBA Superstar and will make the 2K staff regret ever rating him below at least 83 overall. This year, LeVert shared the same overall rating with guys like Jordan Clarkson, JaMychal Green, Kelly Olynyk, Thomas Bryant, and teammate Joe Harris. The disrespect.

3. Kevin Love – 83 Overall

Coming in as the highest-rated player on the sub-par roster of the Cleveland Cavaliers, this five-time all-star and NBA Champion was completely robbed of a fair rating. Although only playing in 22 games last season due to injuries,  he put up similar numbers to the two seasons prior, where he received a rating of 86 and 87, respectively. In the 22 games played last season, Love averaged a double-double, with 17.0 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. The only thing questionable about his play was his shooting, coming in at a career-low 38.5 percent.

2K gave the same rating of 83 to players such as Lauri Markkanen, Montrezl Harrell, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Danilo Gallinari.

2. Aaron Gordon – 81 Overall

Gordon has been underrated in 2K since he entered the league in 2014, possibly due to the small market effect. Dropping one overall point from 2K19, the 23-year-old power forward should definitely be asking some questions on why he is rated so low compared to others in his position. Last season, Gordon averaged 16.0 points on 44.9 percent shooting, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

The versatile big man can do just about anything, but what gives him real value is his ability to spread the floor. Last season, he shot a career-high three-point percentage at 34.9 percent. This was good enough to give him a ‘B+’ three-point rating on 2K. Also receiving 81 overall ratings are players such as Spencer Dinwiddie, Domantas Sabonis,  Rudy Gay, and Hassan Whiteside.

1. Devin Booker – 86 Overall

The 22-year-old shooting guard is entering his 5th year in the league, Booker is a player known around the league to be extremely underrated. Since his second year in the league, Booker has been putting up all-star like numbers but is yet to receive any accolades. Year after year, fans are stunned to once again see that Booker did not make an all-star roster. the 6’6 guard for the Phoenix Suns is one of the best shooters in the league.

Every night Booker steps on to the court he puts on a show, much like he did when he dropped 70-point on the Boston Celtics back in 2017. He is the only active NBA player to score more than 65 points in a game. Other players receiving an 86 overall rating are De’Aaron Fox, Nikola Vucevic, Jrue Holiday, Draymond Green, and John Wall. We hope the game will update his overall very soon.
