On Wednesday, January 23, we get a key NBA matchup out West. What was supposed to be the nationally televised game has been moved in order to clear room for Zion Williamson‘s NBA debut on national TV. However, this is still a Western Conference heavyweight bout one should be interested in as it has major playoff implications. The Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic, sit in the third spot in the West. However, the Houston Rockets, led by their star duo in James Harden and Russell Westbrook, are also looking to move up the conference standings. Defeating the third-best team in the Western Conference would drastically help them, especially in terms of playoff positioning.

NBA Game to Watch #2: Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz

On January 25, we get another treat in the Western Conference. The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the biggest surprises this season being led by the young rising phenomenon in Luka Doncic. Not to mention, the kid is in the running for MVP as well. On the other side, we have the Utah Jazz who are finally living up to the preseason expectations. Especially after the subtle additions that they made in the offseason. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert have shown that they are one of the premier star duos in the league. In turn, it has led them to the fourth spot in the Western Conference as of January 20. All in all, this shapes up to be a promising NBA matchup.

Game #3: Memphis Grizzlies at Boston Celtics

The Ja Morant show rolls on as they head to Boston on January 22. As of January 20, the kid is averaging 17.9 points per game, seven assists per game, and 49.4% shooting from the field.  The front-runner for the Rookie of the Year has the Memphis Grizzlies in the thick of the Western Conference playoff picture making the young team must-see television. They will have a hard test as they will be battling an Eastern Conference contender in Boston. A Boston team led by Kemba Walker who is having another All-Star-caliber season tallying 22.1 points per game while shooting 38.8% from three-point territory. Regardless, this promises to be an intriguing East vs. West matchup as Ja Morant and Kemba Walker duel (barring injuries).

These are the three matchups to look for this week. For those wanting different games other than the nationally televised games, these games this week should satiate one’s NBA palette. It is rather surprising these three games are not on national TV, though the Denver vs. Houston matchup was originally planned for ESPN. However, these three games should be more than intriguing. Especially for those wanting to watch NBA matchups through League Pass rather than the nationally televised channels.
